Candelilla wax is a yellow to orange wax that mostly comes in small pellets. It is a firm wax.

INCI name: Euphorbia Cerifera (candelilla) wax

Source: natural

Texture: hard and firm pellets of flakes

Recommended usage percentage: 1-30%

Melting point: 70 °C

Absorption rate: On its own, candelilla wax will not absorb into the skin, because of its higher melting point. Added to a balm, or any other product it will slow down the absorption speed.

Heat sensitive: no

Solubility: oil

How to use it

Candelilla wax can be to thicken or harden our products. It is used in lip balms and lotion bars, but also as a thickener in emulsions or oil-based serums. Candelilla wax is harder than beeswax. You can use candelilla wax as a vegan substitute for beeswax however, you might end up with a slightly firmer end product. You might want to reduce the percentages.

For storage, make sure you store it in a dry and cool place.
